A Flipped Classroom Experiment
Hello again! This time I am coming with a new task which I prepared with my friends Seçil, Reyyan and Elif. It is about the flipped classroom method. Flipped Classroom is a teaching method where learners learn the relevant matter before coming to the class. It is called flipped because the traditional roles and activities trade their places.
It has various advantages. These advantages include an increase in autonomy of learners, responsibility, engagement and maybe a more efficient learning process overall. Although it has disadvantages as well. These are access to technology, inability to plan the necessary time and space; it is hard for teachers to plan and implement for a class, consisting of students of different learning styles. It could also be time consuming for the teacher. It could be hard to sustain in the long run.
Our task was to design a flipped classroom plan for 5th grade state school students in Turkey. The task includes an ASSURE plan as well. We prepared beautiful and engaging lesson material for this particular task. The process seemed tiring and too much initially but we managed it in ease. We talked and exchanged our ideas and the plan created itself so to say. It was fun. Everyone did their job equally. We all participated in voicing, designing and creating the ASSURE plan.
We used Canva. It is a perfect design tool with lots of different images, templates, graphics etc. We also used Wordwall for practice. It is a fun tool where you can test yourself about a certain matter, for example, filling in the blanks. It was a great experience overall.
