Our ASSURE Model
Hello everyone, this is Furkan again. I am here with another, yet not the final, task. This was about, as you might have guessed, the famous ASSURE model. Me, Suvddot and Zeynep designed a model which we thought was the best we can offer at the moment. It is a product of collaboration, critical thinking, and pragmatic reasoning. So, basically, the task was designing a teaching plan based on the ASSURE model. We had to follow the principles of corpus-based language teaching design while we were building this plan. We went for change many times. It was a tough procedure but after a certain point, my enjoyment went up significantly because it was about details now and I loved the details part. I had fun but we had lots of disputes obviously. And although we had different ideas, we reached an agreement. I had no delusions though. The plan we have designed is a complicated one. It is layered with lots of dynamics. The teacher has to pay attention to every part of the process. It is hard to implement in classes where the number of students is high. The teacher could not pay attention to every student. Also, it could be seen as too complex or time consuming. You had to use AI, look for examples inside the corpus, engage in jigsaw, join a Google Classroom and then finally you can send your practices for eventual assessment. It is a long journey but it can be very rewarding too. It depends on the classroom and the teacher. It can be very rewarding but also punitive. That was all, thank you for reading! See you later!
